EMBIO takes pride in being a socially responsible company and focuses on long-term and effective CSR programmes. Volunteering their time and skills is encouraged among our employees, who are willing to engage in giving back to the community. We aspire to dedicate our efforts to social concerns.

Environmental health

Embio has always prioritised sustainable practises and environmental initiatives. We have a State of the Art effluent treatment plant based on the principles of green chemistry. The system is well supported by primary treatment using anaerobic biodigester, followed by a secondary treatment with 5 stage Multiple Effect Evaporator (MEE), followed by drying and disposal of solid waste.

Tree Plantation

As a part of its Corporate Environment Responsibility (CER) activities, Embio has taken steps towards reducing carbon footprint and beautification by planting trees in the vicinity of the factory premises. We also keep a vigil on the health and growth of these plantations and have planned various such activities in future.

Embio organizes award camps to encourage children by recognizing their academic accomplishments. These are held in schools of neighbouring villages in Raigad district, Maharashtra. We supply these schools with uniforms and books. A library for the benefit of students was built in Sheltoli village school.

Udaan India Foundation

For over a decade, Embio has supported Udaan India Foundation (Udaan) in its mission to provide education to children from low income communities in Mumbai. Udaan is a not-for-profit organization with a primary aim to ensure that every child gains a strong and holistic education, in line with the Government of India’s objectives of Right to Education.

Women Empowerment

Embio strives to enable women in skill development activities like stitching, handicraft, etc. and empowerment to generate livelihood. These camps are conducted regularly and an internal evaluation of the program is set up to achieve goals of self-sustainability for these women.

Primary health care is critical for an effective health care delivery in rural areas. It is the most inclusive, equitable, cost-effective and efficient approach to enhance people’s physical and mental health, as well as social well-being. Evidence of wide-ranging impact of investment in primary health care continues to grow around the world, particularly in times of crisis such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Embio has taken healthcare activities in local communities at Mahad as part of its CSR initiatives over the years to benefit local stakeholders. Doctors and medicines are made available regularly in Shetoli's primary health care centre. Donations have been made on a regular basis to local health organizations in order to subsidize health care costs of needy patients such as dialysis, COVID treatment, health check-up camps, etc. Apart from financial assistance, we have donated medical equipments such as plasma freezer, oxygen plants, cardiac monitors, ambulance, etc.

Rural hygiene management

Rural areas in India are largely exposed to insects and pests. Solutions like implementing pest and pest-related disease management are required to protect public health. Over the years, Embio has played a vital role in minimising risk in local communities at Mahad. Pest Control Service (Integrated Mosquito Management) is provided on a regular basis in the residential villages of Sheltoli, Khaire, and Buddhawadi.

Covid-19 exposed persistent inequalities by income, age, race, sex and geographic location. The pandemic revealed significant gaps in country health care management systems. In the wake of Covid-19, Embio has been actively participating in the fight against it. Oxygen is critical for the efficient treatment of hospitalised COVID-19 patients, and its supply was severely limited in India in the second phase. To counter this locally, we converted our nitrogen plant to an oxygen plant to meet the demand for oxygen at the Maharashtra Manufacturers Association (MMA) specialised COVID centre, Mahad. We also provided a financial assistance to the COVID centre for purchase of oxygen cylinders. In addition, we provided 166 low molecular weight heparin injections to Vardhaman Charitable Trust, Mahad. Vaccination doses were made available to our employees at periodic intervals. In local villages, we provided more than 1000 vaccination doses to the residents.

Rural development

Embio has been working to enhance the quality of life for the rural residents of Mahad since its inception. A Community halls and have been built in Shetoli and Khaire village as part of its rural development project.

Villages in Maharashtra have been facing acute water shortage due to scanty rainfall in past years. Keeping this in mind, a community well with a capacity of 550 KL was built in Pimpaldari village of Mahad which benefits more than 4000 local residents.
